Two of my boys need to get more exercise so I decided to join the the "Run on Water" event on March 5th and hopefully this will be an incentive for them to do daily walking. We live in Northern WI and Lake Superior freezes over and the walk in on the Lake to one of the islands. I think they would be SUPER motivated to build up their endurance. My 'secret' is to find local events to get the kid's involved.

Think your child is too small to exercise with you? I walk or run after my 4 y/o as he rides his bike ahead of me. I have him stop at every intersection so I can catch up. It keeps my pace up, helps me to keep an eye on him, and encourages family exercise. He is always shouting, "Run Mom!" when I slow down, so it's like having a free personal trainer!
We used to walk together, but he was so slow I was constantly having to stop and wait for him, or slow my pace so much that my calorie burn was not high enough. Now I get real cardio every morning and afternoon, just by being a good mom!
When on vacation I like tp park my car and walk. I do some research before I go and get a hotel in the middle of everything and walk/ Alot of big towns have museum(some science and hands on for kids, Ball parks, parks for the kids or the dogs. Broadway theatre shows, specialty shops, Concerts and regioal bits of fun. 283218444

Try to fit as much exercise that you can in a day. If you need to take a trip less than 1 mile walk to your destination. Plan family excursion that center on hiking. It does not have to be rough terrain. You get exercise, spend time with the family & enjoy nature.
