Frozen veggies are lifesavers when it comes to cooking and getting all my veggies in for the day! I throw them in pasta dishes, my homemade chili, stir fries, the possibilities are endless. They're inexpensive and most of the time just as good as fresh vegetables.

When shopping for groceries stick to the perimeter of the store and avoid the aisles. The perimeter usually contains your produce, meats, dairy aisle and bakery allowing to reduce the amount of processed and sugary foods you purchase.
The frozen vegetable aisle is also valuable, but avoid the sections of ice cream and frozen pizzas.
Frozen vegetables are nutritious and budget freindly
Frozen vegetables really are just as nutritious as fresh. Mineral content and vitamin content is almost the same. Just make sure you donít select blends that contain sauces, high salt, high sugar, or other unhealthy additives. Use in soups, chili, casserole dishes, sauces, omelets, stir-fries, steamed side dishes. Frozen green pepper bits are economical at $1 a bag, check out frozen brocolli, califlower, spinach and more. Some times you can save $$$'s.
Always keep frozen vegetables in your freezer, that way when you're hungry for a "snack" you can be eating in minutes AND getting 1, 2 or more of your vegetable servings taken care of at the same time! It's a delicious and satisfying snack with astoundingly few calories, even with a bit of butter added! Cauliflower and baby brussel sprouts are my personal favourites.
Particularly great in the fall and winter when we tend to crave warm food. For a bit of decadence, sprinkle on some parmesan cheese or crumble a bit of lite feta cheese.
