Did you know you can pre-soak your brown rice and thereby shorten the cooking time? Just 1 hour of pre-soaking will cut as much as 10 minutes of cooking time and your rice will be fluffier too.
MORE INFORMATION:
If you use chicken, vegetable or beef broth it will also add some flavor to the rice.
After cooking, let the rice sit in the pot for about 10 minutes (with lid on) to complete the cooking.

Exercise and Brown Rice
If I'm exercising at home I put my brown rice on to cook and then go exercise to a Leslie Sansone DVD. I can run to the kitchen to turn the burner down and continue exercising while the rice is finishing up on low heat. Don't say you don't have time to make brown rice. Don't say you don't have time to exercise. Just do both at the same time! Make enough brown rice for several days.
I was always making white rice because I didn't want to wait for brown rice to cook. I bought an electric rice cooker. Now I start the brown rice first, and by the time the rest of the meal is complete, the rice is too.
Brown rice takes so long to cook. Well, cook a whole bag at one time. Then using a muffin tin fill each and put the entire thing in the freezer. Once frozen remove each rice "cup" and seal them in a freezer bag. When you want brown rice, just pop one in the microwave for about 2 minutes and it's done!
