every night before i go to bed i fill a glass of water and put it by my bed. in the morning it's the first thing i see and i take it with me as i start my day. i get in my first 2 glasses of water easily, and i actually have come to enjoy drinking water first thing in the morning. it also makes it easier to drink it the rest of the day.

By accident, I started leaving bottles of water around my home. I wash & refill them every night before I go to bed & have one at my bedside at night. I know how much I've drunk each day by how much is left in each. This way, water's always at hand.
Bottles are either stainless steel (preferable) or reusable, hard plastic. Left in rooms I use often, & this way they're everywhere I go throughout my small home. Sometimes flavoured with lemon or lime or flavour crystals without aspartame. Water available everywhere I want it at home.
Develop a spark streak of beginning and ending each day with a positive thought. It can be something that affirms your particular faith community; it can be thankful for another day to be alive, it can be anything.
Consider creating a series of positive thoughts or quotes and having them by your bedside for quick referal.
