I say "thank you" countless times during the day. Even if someone is "just doing their job" I like to let them know I appreciate it. This is such a habit now that I don't even think about it. I look for something to appreciate and try to find the positive "spin".

Practicing gratitude is one of the most important habits we can form. When the dark clouds of worry, despair, anger, depression and helplessness hang over our heads, being able to express gratitude for something or someone will boost our attitudes. It will enhance a good mood too!!
Every morning and every evening, name three specific things for which you are grateful. Write them down in a journal. Start a thread on one of your teams. As long as you can be grateful, life isn't as bad.
It is wonderful to have people who are supportive and encouraging. Make a commitment to express your gratitude to those who are supportive. Say "thank you." Make a healthy meal and share it with those who are encouraging you. And pass the encouragement along. Share favorite recipes and workout dvds with those who are supporting you and need your support as well.
The nice thing about saying "thank you" or giving that supportive person a hug is that you get to hear "you're welcome" and get a hug in return.
