I have color coded pop-up laundry hampers for my kids clothing. A red one for reds (& pinks), black for dark colors, and white for whites (and towels). Saves time on laundry day because everything is already sorted! Just grab the hampers and go.

Fold laundry directly from the line, and sort it too.
Remove and fold all smalls. Stack them according to owner. Then remove and fold all shorts, then skirts, shirts and blouses, stacking according to owner. You can pick out the clothes that belong to one person at a time. Saves you time putting things away, and prevents a lot of wrinkled clothing too.
I use two baskets for laundry. Our family knows that the whites go into one, and the colors go into the other. This pre-sorts the loads, and when a basket is full, any one of us can haul it down to the machine and start it. No sorting necessary :)
We put shelves in my laundry room. I bought 6 baskets & labeled w/our names. Every morn/eve I put a load of laundry in the washer. What's in the washer goes in the dryer. What's in the dryer comes out & gets sorted into the right basket. When someones basket is full, they have to put it away!
No more unsightly piles of laundry. Everyone takes care of their own. I very easily manage to do TWO loads of laundry a day instead of 10 loads on the weekend. If I pull out stuff that needs to be hung up, I just lay it on their bed and they get the hint! LOL ;)
