Drying your laundry on a line--indoors or out--is economical and eco-friendly. Dryers command a lot of energy and electricity, but they also wear out your clothes faster than hang drying. No more shrunken T-shirts either!
You can hang your own line indoors in the basement for cheap. I bought a retractable clothes line from Gaiam.com for about $20 and it works GREAT and retracts out of the way when not in use. Sometimes I fluff the clothes on a 5-minute dry cycle to decrease wrinkles and remove lint when finished.

To save money, expedite clothes drying, and get a little exercise in, I hang almost all clothes outside to dry. Sometimes, I go ahead and hang shirts, blouses and pants on hangers, so all I have to do is put them away when they're dry. Doing my laundry this way is also more energy efficient! :)
