I've stopped using my Swiffer WetJet when I need to mop the floors. I still have the mop, but instead of paying through the nose for refill pads and solution, I use a face towel or washcloth and a 70/30 solution of hot water and white vinegar. It's kind of smelly, but it cuts the crud and the smell goes away in about 10-15 minutes. I've saved $45 in the last 3 months by doing this.

I thought I'd try a generic brand of the pads that attach to the Swiffer cleaner (the one with the cleaner in the bottle that attaches to the handle). They don't stay on. Where the velcro is on the Swiffer, is not where they are on the generic ones, at least not the ones I got.
My opinion, buy the ones from Swiffer. Also, I absolutely LOVE my Swiffer Mop!
I have always had a Swiffer since iv been on my own, but the pad and cleaner cost so much! I found a reusable version of a Swiffer for about what a real Swiffer cost at Wal-Mart but with a cloth rewash able pad and a container you refill yourself with whatever you want! I use vinegar water and a squirt of dawn for mine! Iv had it for two years and LOVE it!
