Don't add more sugar to your diet. If you get a sugar craving eat a sweet potato. A sweet potato is digested slowly to prevent cravings and sugar spikes. Eat the peel as it is good fiber. Steam, Bake, or microwave plain with no butter, just add cinnamon. Still Yummy!

If you balance carbs with protein, the food doesn't turn to sugar as fast because simple carbs turn into sugar within 5 to 60 minutes after eating. When starches and fruits are paired with protein it takes longer to trun into sugar. Example: eat cheese with fruit
