Great secret! This is really a great thing to do when dining out, too - Since restaurants usually butter and grill the buns for sandwiches, I usually as for a "dry bun" because I can't stand wet, mushy bread. But sometimes I forget to ask, so if I tear out the middle, I get rid of a lot of that oily, mushy mess - and the calories that come with it.
I keep a collection of articles about the health benefits of maintaining a healthy weight (and the health hazards of gaining weight). I find focusing on health, rather than appearance, is motivating for me.

Next time you give a small child or a child with loose teeth an APPLE try this. Cut it in thin slices about 1/4 to 1/2 inch NOT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. AROUND ITS MIDDLE and show off the star in the middle. I found little kids went off apples when teeth were loose so I did this. Now I am losing teeth I find they are much easier with smaller chunks of skin to chew.
