Just ask. Call up your cable company and ask them if you qualify for their promotional rates. Every time I have asked they have been able to lower my bill by at least $20 a month for cable alone. (Extra savings if you bundle your services).
If you are willing to play hardball or to take your business elsewhere you can probably get rates even lower.

I have a rule called 50-20-30 Debt savings and power pay down... I re budgeted everything and found out I was way over debt.. after working hard on power paying bills I was able to fit into this percentage rules.. 50% Must haves- rent, insurance, gas, food, your things on what you need to live off of 20% savings- Paying down debt 30% wants- cell phone, cable bills, subscriptions ect. Things you want but can live without
Power paying, you will take your smallest bill and pay it off .. you use that amount then pay that down. roll those payments over to the next bill and so forth.. also line them up to the highest interest rates to balances..
By doing these rules I was able to be debt free in 5 years.
Due to the fact that my cable bill went up $20 a month and my rent went up $10 a month, I cancelled my cable the end of January. Living on SS, I have to be very creative on how I spread out my income, I can get all the news on the radio and I don't have to sit an watch anything. I don't miss the tv at all. All that seems to be on these days is sex and nudity on most stations and i can't see paying a dollar a day for tv.
I can also get news on the internet that I get for free. It is dial up but it is better than nothing. I get more walking in and less sitting plus I have some savings for a rainy day.224
If you have Comcast cable the on demand menu has a wide variety of exercise videos. They include Jillian, biggest loser, cardio, walking and you can choose from 10 min to 30 minutes.. It gives you a chance to try the workouts before buying the videos.. and it saves you money since you already pay the cable bill!
