Whether it's a spouse, a close friend or SparkPeople message boards and friends, find a good support system and stay close to it. It's way too easy to give up if you feel you're doing this alone.

I'm pretty sure that if I had more support it would be the key to a major break through.

THE SUPPORT HERE IS GREAT BUT SOMETIMES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WANT A FRIEND, SOME ONE CLOSE TO BE THERE FOR YOU AND SUPPORT WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU KNOW THEY ARE FIGHTING THE SAME BATTLES YOU ARE.

I have been large my whole life. More so these past few years...I have gained 120 pounds in the past 5 years.(overeating due to bad choices/relationship) I don't like my weight either....and never really have. I actually find that people in my church are helpful. I'm not sure about you, but I think each person has to find their own "groove" and get in that mind set that they can do it. Unless someone is feeding you, you make your own choices and feed yourself. My kids are noticing that I've got a big belly....it hurts when they tell me they get picked on because of me...or they want to get a big belly like me. I do not want this for my kids and I have to change to stop the negativity!

I am not a very trusting person so I am still looking for the person to help me get going on my weight loss plan. I am embarrassed about my weight and I do not want to share with anyone. This is a huge block for me. emoticon

I can go for days feeling really good, but if I do not see signs of my body improving I fall into a funk and all the support I am getting just isn't enough, even though I am making strides is eating much better. emoticon

Hi, I am new to this site! My good friend (who told me about Sparks) and my 10 yr old daughter are my biggest supporters and motivators, along with Sparks people, like you! emoticon

My daughter has been my best supporter on my quest to lose weight. She invited me to SP and daily calls me to find out how I am doing what am I eating, etc.
I love her a lot for caring so much for me.

This is so true. Yes, I understand the comments that people could sabbatog you... the key is to either find someone on your path/goals/determination and work together!

Getting support and motivating online is just the start... getting it from a local fitness buddy..will push you even harder!!! I'm always looking for a buddy in my area!!

it is also my biggest weakness. if i share it i am admitting it, and i am not sure i want to admit the problem in front of others.
