When austerity comes we tend to dwell in worry & sorrow. I have found that when I begin to feel that way if I take a moment to be thankful for what I have & it lifts me out of the worry & sorrow and brings me back to feeling positive and happy. What worry & sorrow brings is just more of the same. You can choose to be happy by recognizing that there is a calm after the storm, you must have rain for things to grow and time heals all wounds.

Every day I make it a point to acknowledge my gratitude for the blessings I have in my life. I am very grateful to have the things that I have in my life. I am grateful for my internet connection, my membership to Weight Watchers, my membership of Sparks, my gym membership, a roof over my head, food in the fridge, a car to drive and on and on. Keeping a gratitude journal daily has been proven to reduce stress and to stay positive.
When you are having a pity party for yourself, try to refocus on all the positive things in your life to re-attune your attitude. Look at your accomplishments, all you are grateful for (it could be just because you woke up today sometimes! lol). "A joyful spirit is evidence of a grateful heart"
Keep saying "I am grateful for______" filling in the blanks each time with something different until you can no longer think of anything.
