I have been using Spark for a couple of years. I am workout hard everyday until recently. Having Hypertension all my life since age 16 and am now 48. I recently had a Stroke that has messed with my short term memory . My workouts and eating healthy this Stroke could have been far worse the doctor said, I was a lucky woman. I Will get back into this workout as soon as possible. per doctors orders. Thank you Spark for all your help and advice.

I'm sorry to hear about your stroke. SparkPeople is really helpful, I totally agree. I have been eating in a more healthy way since I joined a couple months ago.

Whether you have an in-ground pool, above ground pool or are thinking about joining the "Y", water aerobics are a terrific calorie burner. In addition to the calories you burn, you will be giving your joints & and back a favor because of the low impact. I start my pool workout w/ 20 minutes of just walking the edge of the pool, 10 min. forward & 10 min. backward - even that required some time to work up to, walking in water is MUCH harder than it looks. then 4 laps of another, plus the first, & worked my way up to all the strokes - freestyle, backstroke, butterfly (tough!), breast stroke (also tough), side stroke on right & left side & dog paddle (really hard). A great workout! Then you work to drag yourself out of the pool.
Be careful when exercising during the middle of the day. Know the symptoms and signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and take precautions. Aim to exercise early (first thing) before it gets hot or wait until evening when the temperatures have cooled down. Or plan an alternative activity indoors or in a pool.
