My dietitian is REALLY against artificial sweeteners like Splenda and such but she isn't against Stevia!

MORE INFORMATION:
Stevia is a natural sweetner - fairly new to the market - and still being researched... I will pass on this website which give information on both sides - the good and the bad (which isn't much)... http://www.steviasideeffects

What is your Health Worth? Stevia is actually a very low price to pay. There are many types of Stevia out there. Agave is another great sweetener on the Low Glycemic Scale, which means it does not spike your blood sugar levels when you ingest it! Agave is harvested from a cactus! emoticon

Stevia is a NATURAL SUGAR 300 times sweeter than sugar and comes from the Stevia plant. It has no calories. Truvia also has stevia in it. Stevia is recommended for diabetics. Stevia is an herb plant and found in Paraguay. Sometimes it is also called candyleaf because of its sweetness. Stevia can't hurt you! Good choice.

I am "addicted" to sugar also and prediabetic. The way I handle it is that my sister was diabetic and she would lose a part of her body periodically. First a toe, then a leg and so on...I am DETERMINED to never lose a part of my body because I am "addicted" to sugar. I check my glucose levels often and if they start going up even a little, I leave the sugar alone....I just remember my sister...I miss her but she still keeps me in line....

I've been told this, too. I made the switch, even with my Crystal Light. (Pure Fitness -Grape, Lemon Lime and Strawberry Kiwi are made with stevia.)

I tried stevia. Leaves a bit of an aftertaste, but it it's healthier, then I guess it is the price we have to pay.
