Clean Your Oven While You Bake

As your bake your treats --Take a large pot (dutch, crock, etc.) and fill it with water and fresh lemon juice. Place the pot in the oven and turn it to 350 for 30-40 minutes. This will actually steam your oven and help loosen anything caked on. You can easily wipe the oven with a clean rag afterwards. If you have caked on areas, you can add a little baking soda to make a paste

Great idea, I do this in my microwave oven too and it works great! Just get a 2 cup pyrex bowl or measuring cup and put the juice of one lemon in it and put it on high for about 5 to 10 minutes. The oven will steam clean and wipe away food easily with a soft damp cloth.

Thanks for sharing a simple and (I hope) effective way to keep the oven clean. Going to try it on Sunday while baking a cake after a new "Easy Salty Cake" recipe.
