Through out the year I scan the flyer's for discounted toys or if a store is going out of business I go there & pick up a few toys by the end of the year I have a huge bag or 2 to donate to the toy bins. I feel the warmth spread throughout my heart, because I know my gift will make a child smile.

The Marine Corp. & Salvation Army are asking for Toys for needy children. Walgreens has a special this week on toys. Sets are offered for girls and boys, buy two and get one free for $13.98 or buy Kermit or a Teddy Bear 2 for $12.00. Lots of buy 1, get 1 free. Please help a child in need! Merry Xmas!
I started this when my children were little. They would fill bags of toys they didn't play with and leave them for Santa. Santa would give them to other children that wanted the toys. The more toys they put under the tree, the more toys Santa would bring them. Once they went to sleep, the bags went in my trunk and down the street to a Salvation Army donation box. It got rid of unused toys every year.
It sometimes is difficult to commit to decisions regarding what to give away to charity, because the items usually stay in our homes for a while. So, it is possible to remove the items from the box or bag, and keep it. However, you probably put it there for a reason. To make sure that donations stay donations, it can be as simple as getting a box that closes at the top. Fill it, and then seal the box with packaging tape. Label it as to its contents, and take it in soon.
I like to give to people that are giving the items away, this works best for clothing and bedding, but also toys and children's books--children always need toys and reading material.
