80/20 Rule

In order to maintain my weight loss I go by the 80/20 rule. I eat healthy 80% of the time and allow myself to indulge 20% of the time. This keeps me on an even keel and allows me to have some of my favorite treats so I don't feel deprived and start binging. It has worked well for me for almost a year now!

  • Thanks, this is a great idea. I'm doing this now as I lose the weight I want to lose, and I'm still successful. I try to exercise at least twice a day and I pay clost attention to the foods I eat. Tracking my foods really helps me stay on track. Thanks SparkPeople! - by SHANNIBUGSLIM

    I work on a plan of 1888 calories for 3 days then 2200 one day then 3 days of 1888. On the 2200 calorie day I eat my Little Debbie Cake and I don't feel guilty about it. This is allow me to consistently lose weight over time. Since 2006 I have lost 15lbs a year which doesn't sound like a whole lot but all I did was a few diet changes. I wanted something I could live with and enjoy not something I feel miserable doing and hated. This is a awesome idea!!
