Avacado Surprise

Members Were Sparked
This Sparked Me!

I chopped up an avacado today and added it to my salad for lunch. Afterwards I added the avacado to my tracker and realized it has 250 cal and 22.5g fat! Not what I was expecting from a vegetable. Note to self: check nutritional info of new food before consuming emoticon

But avocado is good fat so though it was so many grams its much better for you than mayo or oil used for cooking.

I eat some avocado almost every day. Good fat.

I totally agree with SONNYG1! This is healthy fat! Moderation is the key.

I think I know what you mean: you probably would have only had a part of the avocado instead of all of it. Knowledge and portion control are two of our biggest allies in our fight to become the healthiest persons we can be.
We can do this! Let's go, Spark people!

I love avocados and still include them in my diet because as mentioned they are extremely nutritious, and sooo delicious!
RAISETHEMOON 12/9/2010 11:54:00 AM

I did the same thing with a mango last night. Totally blew my carb intake.
SONNYG1 12/9/2010 11:44:00 AM

It may be high in fat, but it is a healthy fat. The avocado is very healthy for you and it is good to work it into your diet. Like anything else, just don't overdo it. emoticon
