Here's a great snack idea I just discovered. One 100 calorie bag of popcorn with 1 serving of dipping chocolate (80 calories) mixed in. Chocolate covered popcorn for 180 calories. You get salty and sweet and a large serving. Great for when watching a movie or tv!!!!
Incorporate 2 or 3 snacks in your day. If I go more than 3 hours without eating something, I tend to overeat during my next meal. Don't let yourself get to the starving point! I have my snacks about 1 hour before lunch, 1 hour befor dinner and about 2 hours after dinner.
Snack ideas: 1 tbls of nuts or seeds and a fruit; 1 oz of cheese with celery or carrot sticks; 1 or 2 tbls of hummus with celery or carrot sticks; 1 tbls of peanut butter with apple wedges; 1/2 cup of fat & sugar free yogurt + fruit. Avoid carbs: breads, crackers, cookies, granola bars for snacks
How I don't overindulge at the Holidays or parties:
The best Secret I can share is never go to a party or Holiday Dinner or restaurant super hungry! Eat a healthy snack, like an apple and a low fat string cheese/ piece of cheese or yogurt before going. This way you can enjoy yourself but say no to the high calorie dishes and desserts.
Some snack ideas: Have a few slices of rolled up turkey breast, eat a banana or apple, make a salad with low cal or fat free dressing, carrot sticks, or even a bowl of low cal/low fat vegetable soup.
