I have now made a paper clip chain from brightly colored paper clips. There is one clip for each pound I have lost. I have it hanging in my office. It is a great reminder of how far I have come (30 clips), and encourages me when I start to dream about eating something just because it sounds great!

That is such an awesome idea! I know some people have used pounds of beans or something, but I need to eat beans, not store them and anyways, this just a great tip!

I like this - visible, tangible, but not obvious to everyone else what it means. Subtle. Perfect...I need to get some colored ('cause I don't think it would be quite the same if not colored) paperclips!

I like your idea! A great visual for progress so I think I will start mine. I will have 63 of them to start.

Put the Scale Away
Weighing yourself everyday can get very discouraging. Put the scale away and only get it out on weigh in day ( my day is Friday). It is so motivating to see the needle drop on the scale!244

Seeing the pounds drop once a week keeps me motivated to keep going!306
To motivate myself to excersize and eat within my calorie range each week, I have modified a reward system I found on a message board here. I keep a clear jar on the counter, and a small calendar to highlight days in which I do some kind of excersize. I reward myself with 1 cent each minute I work out. One dollar for each pound I lose. 5 dollars for each 5 pound mark. one dollar per week I eat withing my calorie range all 7 days. ( I allow myself 2 days of per month for TOM)
MORE INFORMATION:
The money comes from the budgeted amount I have alotted to eat out for lunch each week, as well as the change jar that I have. So it might seem expensive but its really not. Its money I would have spent anyways, but Im putting it towards a bigger goal: my goal- weight reward is a new tattoo.
I picked up a couple of little jars at the dollar store along with some decrative glass beads. I labeled one jar with - pounds to lose and the other jar with - pounds lost. I filled the first jar with as many beads as pounds I need to lose. Now whenever I lose a pound I move a bead into the pounds lost jar. I sit the jars on my bathroom counter and it is really motivating to want to fill up my pounds lost jar!
