My Gymboss interval timer is my partner in crime. I use it for HIIT (High intensity intrval training) training on the vertical bike. Instead of spending an hour doing cardio, I do my cardio in 20 minutes! This saves time and allows me to focus on my weight training. After 20 minutes of HIIT cardio, I'm dripping wet and burned just as many calories as if I did 1 hour of cardio.
I bought mine off their website for $19.99 plus shipping. It keeps me in tune with my intervals! www.gymboss.co m

Gymboss is an amazing inexpensive gadget ~ to time interval run/walks. You can set the gymboss to what ever intervals you want ie. Run 2 minutes, Walk 1 minute. It beeps or beeps and vibrates, so you can use it while listening to music. 312312 Running is WAY more FUN!!!!
I loved it so much, I bought another one for dh when he started running. If I could only bring one thing with me on a run it would be my GYMBOSS!!! I wish I had thought of it!!!
If I could quit my job and sell GYMBOSS ~ I would... Have I mentioned I love my GYMBOSS
Two pieces of important gym equipment include a workout journal and stopwatch (interval timer). The fitness log lets you consistently measure progress. The stopwatch (or interval timer) lets you measure the third variable at the gym, time. Who did more work the person A that does 5 exercises of 3 sets of 12 reps in 20 min. or Person B that does 5 exercises of 3 sets of 12 reps in 10 min.? This is just one reason a stopwatch or interval timer is handy. Find more value in these by getting them
I use the Gymboss interval timer (http://www.gymboss.com/) and highly recomend it. Alternatively any stopwatch that you have or get for cheap can work. Additionally, any easy to write in and sturdy book can be a good gym log book or journal. I use a hardcover composition book.
Try the interval program on the elliptical trainer. For 5 months I used the elliptical regularly in the 1 to 3 resistance level. I didn't think I could do more. Then I tried the interval program. I not only could I do it, but I burned far more calories than in the weight loss mode.
The interval program I use goes from level 3 to level 7 resistance. I use a stride of 26.
