I plan a week at a time, but I usually end up changing some things. I keep a legal pad and use it only for menus. That way if I need to get quick ideas, I can just flip around some pages. This is a record of what my family likes and ends up being a great resource in itself!

Make a budget, menu plan, and grocery list and stick to it. #Note2Self
If SP's suggested meals don't work for you, there are several online tools or downloadable forms that you can use to help you plan healthier meals. If you're using a PC, you can also try Microsoft Works.
Do you consistently throw away unused, spoiled food? Is your fridge always crammed full? Did you ever notice how many people on Hoarders shows have this same problem (sometimes w/multiple fridges & freezers)?
Stop the insanity. Clean it out, menu plan around what's left (if it's safe). Then the menu plan AFTER that, buy ONLY what's on your next menu plan, even if it's on sale. If you want to buy the sale, then menu plan by shopping the online ads. And never repeat this behaviour again.
