For a sudden surge of energy and for a good goal - regardless of how much exercise I do in a day, I make a habit of running the steps at home (3 sets of 3 up and down - rapidly).

MORE INFORMATION:
I've extended this from the habit at work to do the same - 3x up and down (rather than elevator) beyond what I normally need to do to get to meetings, etc. Of course at work I can't so easily run the steps - but it's possible to do this with a buddy as well.
