Many years ago I read an article regarding canned ham and how it just tastes "chemically" and not smoked like a bone-in ham. In the article they said it's because chemical smoke is used but if you want to make it taste just like an old-fashioned ham baste it with vanilla extract! I've been doing that ever since and you would not believe how delicious it is! The ham winds up being a little sweetened but the chemical taste is GONE!

Today I put my Easter Ham in the crock pot with one cup of water.It was so moist, & the juice from the ham made the delicious gravy.It was a precooked skinless ham .Put it on low for four hours. My sister in laws do this all the time & I could use the oven for the rest of my dishes.The key was the moistens of the ham.
