I want to take a couple of long walks per day, but tend to put them off when the weather's too hot, too cold, it's raining, etc. I adopted a young adult Bloodhound, Sam, who needs brisk long walks. Now I walk rain or shine, and I always have a walking buddy. And Sam has a home.

If you don't (or can't) own a dog... volunteer at a local shelter to walk the dogs there! The dogs are always SO happy when they get a chance to get outside for some exercise & fresh air. They are never too tired to walk (like some human walking buddies) & you are getting great exercise while doing something you can feel good about!! It's hard to say you don't feel like a walk when you know those dogs are counting on you! 200313
We recently adopted a dog...now I have to get out and take the dog for a walk or the doggie guilt sets in. She's a great exercise buddy, always ready to go!
It really helps to have a buddy or buddies to exercise with. If that means people or dogs. You will walk much faster if you have a dog to walk/hike with. If you have a buddy to ride, swim or go to the gym with it helps with accountability. Also, find someone at your level or just a tad above to help you "work upwards".
