    For a long time all my issues with my feet kept me from being able to walk. The 9 hours a day on my feet at work was about all I could handle. My podiatrist told me not to use the treadmill or walk more than necessary. Luckily, at least for now, my feet are better and I am enjoying being able to take walks. I have several routes I take exploring areas in and around town. Some days I just prefer walking to spending time in the gym......except when it's really cold or windy. Still haven't been able to make myself get back on the treadmill though.

    I've started walking around my subdivision. It takes about 15-20 mins if you walk at a faster pace. And, even though I only walk around once, I'm taking baby steps and will add more times gradually.

    I like walking but today is just too cold! Right now the temperature outdoors is 18 degrees with a lot of wind. Am praying very, very hard for spring to arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Walks help with stress relief and is a great exercise that you can do inside and out. I use Leslie Sansonne's DVDs in the winter.

    Walking would have been part of my exercise today, but since it is frigid and icy, I plan to do some Spark People videos with Nicole!

    Walking is one of my favorite things and I take full advantage of it since my hip replacement. Even yesterday, cold as it was outside, my "just 15 minutes" ended up being 45 minutes. I think about everything and about nothing at all!

    After knee surgery, walking ten minutes has been an effort, but I am getting faster and moving farther for longer times as I work on the ten minute spurts.

    This sparked me because today I made myself more accountable by asking two friends if when they walk I could come. So they will have to meet me on the way so I could walk with them. Awsome

    I'm lucky (I think) that some of my walking is built-in. I take train to work, so walk 10 min. to train, then ride train to next town, then walk 1.5 miles to work & then do the reverse. Then I also go for walks/hikes with friends. emoticon
