Set a goal to make at least one smart choice concerning healthy eating a day. Try to make it early in the morning. When you make that choice, you immediately feel good about yourself. And you're committed to having a good day. So you'll find yourself making another smart choice later. Another feel good, and another great day.279
I always overpack my lunchbox - not because I want to overeat, but because I love having options. Having the option to choose whether I want to eat an orange or an apple, yogurt or string cheese, really helps me stay on track with my food choices. If I limit what I bring, I'm more likely to not want it and snack on something I shouldn't be eating. But having the choice of choosing what I want makes me eat something that I want instead of HAVING to eat what is there.
I prefer to make my own salads but won't do so if time-crunched. My strategy involves fresh salad ingredients and a 6-8 cup capacity plastic container. I wash and chop 3 heads of romaine lettuce and a variety of my favorite veggies and store in the container in the fridge. Fresh salad at the ready!
By having this healthy choice prepared in advance, I'm less likely to reach for an unhealthy food when faced with the hunger monster!
