I put my "workout" calendar on my desk. Each day I can cross off the workout when I've completed it. At the end of the week/ month I have a visual record of my accomplishments!
For example, right now I'm working the C25K training on MWF. On T and TH, I ride my bike to school then to strength training. W is yoga and S/Su are "group" activities (golf/ bicycle/ hike). . A successful week has at least 5 days crossed off!

I like to use a calendar to map out my goals, whether short-term ones or the long term one, and I use colored pencils and even stickers on it. It's just a fun visual thing to do. ( I found a web-site where you can print a calendar page for each month with very little ink, any month you want.)
(just click on "view printable calendar" at the bottom of the month you want and print)
