I think my dietitian calls this seems to work - I agree with you! Better yet, I like to substitute spinach for lettuce wherever I can for even more nutrition. emoticon

I've just discovered Trader Joe's bagged lettuce. The quality is very good and it is only $2.00 per bag. At my grocery store, the quality lettuce is usually $4.00 per bag. The cheaper bags are not good.

I rinse it in cold water and then dry it with a dish towel. Then I add sliced cucumbers and carrots, put it in a bowl, and cover the lettuce with a damp paper towel to keep it crisp. I served it at a party and everyone commented that they liked it.

Try some organic baby mixed greens... they have more varity and they have more nutrition! I also like Spinache and Kale! emoticon Plus spinache you can throw into other dishes as a filler and get more vitamins and make more filling!

I know that is right lettuce is only 1 cal and if you tear it in small pieces, chew slowly and only eat one leaf with a glass of water you will find that it is very filling emoticon
