There is a device from India called a Neti pot that is used to cleanse the sinuses. Modern versions can be found in almost any chain drugstore. Imagine a slender bottle that holds 8 oz. of water. You add a packet of salt (comes with the device) to 8 ox. of warm water. Lean over the sink, using the nozzle squirt half the water up one nostril. Yuck... I hear you say. It does take getting used to and you have to keep your mouth open. After doing both sides, your head and sinus feel great.

More Information:

I do this daily in the winter and my colds have all but disappeared.

  • I had a successful deviated septum surgery last Apr. My ENT surgeon told me all about using this and that he does and feels soooo much better. I am happy to have come into the Fall with NO sinus trouble, but will be doing this when the sinuses act up. mary - by OZARKMARY
  • I resisted the neti pot also. I had a devil of a time finding my comfort zone over the sink. It took time but for me it is worth it.I am doing so much nbetter, with alleries and sleeping, No more stuufeed noses. Pat in Maine. I do agree the Neill plastic is easier o use, premixed saline packets make it easier at first for sure. Pat in Maine. - by NORASPAT
  • I had sinus surgery last week and have to clean out my sinuses 3 times a day. The Neti pot didn't work for me, but NeilMed has a rinse bottle (same premise, different design) that is working great. Rumor has it I will want to keep it up after I'm healed. I guess only time will tell. - by PRPLMAMA
