Do as I say not as I do--since my hubby has been away I've stayed up later and later. Bad move: not only does it throw of your circadian rhythms, it puts a strain on your diet. If you DO stay up late, avoid giving in to the munchies and drink hot tea or drink water.

I often find myself putting off my exercise until later and later with little excuses (My food needs to settle, I'm too hungry now that I waited I need to eat again, I don't have time to exercise and then shower before I need to go etc) Before I know it I'm out of time. Doing something small I know I can get done early in the day ensures I'll have done something which is always better than nothing, hopefully I'll add more later but if not at least I didn't skip out on the whole day!
Everybody likes to be told when they are doing well. But why wait for others to tell you? I stay motivated by patting myself on the back. Not because I am "self-centered" but because I need to hear myself acknowledge my accomplishments. Others around you can tell you all day long you are doing great...but if you don't believe it yourself, their commendation won't matter. Celebrating even the smallest of accomplishments holds me over until I can achieve something BIG!248
I use a sticker system for visual help with my program. I put a red sticker on the days that I blow it. I use a yellow sticker if it was a maintence type day (200 calories above my range). A green sticker if I stayed in my calorie range. This system helps me see how I'm doing and provides feedback when the scale doesn't say what I want to hear.
It helps me stay motivated when I'm doing well and brings me to a quick about face when I'm not.
