I love this! Lately I'm trying not to eat something unless I really like it. If it doesn't taste good, why waste the calories? It helps me to eat more mindfully if I stop and think, "Do I really like this? Do I really want to eat it, or would I rather save these calories for something that will give me true pleasure?"

I have been doing the same thing also! I really can't taste the cheese on my sandwiches. I do make sure I put a big slice of tomato and some lettuce. Don't miss the cheese at all!

You are so right on with this! I also will sometimes stop eating something if I'm really not enjoying it or it doesn't taste especially good the moment. Why eat it if I'm not enjoying it?

Don't Finish Everything on the Plate
Remember that you don't have to eat everything on the plate. This seems to be more problematic when eating out because you don't want to waste. If you can't wrap it up for later go ahead and toss it. Food becomes waste one way or another. Better that it is wasted without being processed into fat
Half that portion! I half the portion of whatever i'm about to eat. If it can't be halved without wasting part then I don't eat it Example: Sandwich you can half & save for later...cookie you would have to share if a person is available or throw the half away if you have no one to share it with. IF I would have to waste it then I don't eat it. Planning! Don’t be a gingerbread woman, be a ROCKSTAR! www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4821690

Instead of trying to finish your plate because it tastes good or you do not want to waste things, stop eating when you START feeling full. It has helped me a lot, and changed my eating habits greatly. I now get smaller portions. This is especially important to think about when eating out. Take home the extras for another meal, don't try to finish the plate or prevent some from 'going to waste.'

A related tip: avoid 'deals' on food. Getting more for less money is not necessarily good. Buffets are a big one, avoid those! Pay more for less quantity, more quality!
