For certain foods, like cottage cheese, yogurt, and pudding, the serving size is only a half a cup-that goes down in a matter of seconds when I'd eat it with a regular utensil! Instead of having that happen, I use my 2 y.o. son's old spoons and forks, and it makes these items last longer, and I am able to just take time and TASTE the food! It may sound silly to do, but it helps! I was able to buy a 12 pk of baby spoons at the dollar store, so it's a cheap investment!

I really like that secret I am going to try that. Because I do eat fast but I have been trying to slow down. Thank you for your idea I really like that.

I had no idea other people did this! I've been teased mercilessly by coworkers and family for doing this!

That's a great tip and I pretty much do the same thing, but instead of a baby spoon, I use inexpensive dessert forks and coffee spoons for things like that. I think I spent around 4 Euro (about $5) for a set of 6 of each and they are tiny. Probably the size of baby utensils. I don't know why the US doesn't do it (money?) but pretty much all of the restaurants here in Europe give you dessert flatware with desserts. What a concept, eh?

I'm so glad to see someone else is doing this! My family thought I was losing my mind when I bought a pack of baby spoons for myself. My 14-year-old is trying to improve her eating habits like I am, so I suggested she try it (we both wolf-down yogurt, pudding, etc. faster than we can taste it with a regular spoon). She scoffed, but one day we ran out of clean "regular" spoons (I had nothing to do with that... tee hee!) so she had to resort to a baby spoon to eat a pudding cup. It must have darn near killed her when she finally admitted that it really works; she actually took her time enjoyed that pudding cup! I can't wait share this secret with her!

Use baby spoons & forks to eat
Okay, I just discovered that we have no teaspoons in the house. Really, not one. While looking for teaspoons I found my son's old baby spoon and fork and started using them. Great idea for me! Wu-who because now instead of a huge table spoon of food in my mouth I use a tiny baby spoon and my food lasts longer!
MORE INFORMATION:
Another really great benefit to this is that I noticed that I needed my mouth to be filled with whatever I was eating therefore I was shoveling food into my mouth. No wonder I never noticed when I was full. Now, by using this little spoon and fork I know when I have had enough to eat.
Have trouble eating too fast? Pick up a baby spoon (for things like ice cream, etc) and a baby fork! The same thing goes for chop sticks, but I find baby utensils easier!
