When I start to have negative thoughts, it usually leads to feeling depressed - the best way to change those thoughts is to write 12 things on a Gratitude List - even if some of them seem trivial, like "I'm grateful I have soap," or tinged with negativity, like "only gained 20 lbs instead of 30," it still works like a magic cure! After all, a lot of people DON'T have soap or DID gain more than I did and it helps to put things into perspective. Maybe my life isn't so bad after all ;-)

I have a tendency toward depression and I am learning to not follow the thought pathway that moves me there. I was eating too much to help fight depression. Now I am trying to walk, meditate everyday and not give in to the thinking of depression. This is a hard time of year for me, but I'm not going there this year, instead I'm working to focus on what is right and everyday count what I am grateful for in my life.41
