When first starting to run- keep in mind the goal is completion, not competition. It doesn't matter if you have to walk or come in last as long as you complete it :)

I like it. It goes along with another of my favorites; "It's not the speed that counts, it's the directions!"

I walked in a 5K last year and was determined to beat my best friend (in the spirit of friendly competition). I didn't even come close. But the Bible tells us to run the race set before us ... My biggest competition is me.
TERID816 9/15/2012 6:51:00 PM

YES!! Because you always lap the couch potatoes! emoticon
CHERYLSBUTT 9/14/2012 2:08:00 PM

CHERYLSBUTT 12/23/2012 9:18:00 PM

    This tip is so helpful!
It is surprising what you can do when you just plan to finish.
Spurts of energy come from every where and you do more than your mind believed!
MKRETIRED 12/23/2012 8:27:00 PM

    I agree.
RASIRE 12/23/2012 7:15:00 PM

    So true. Thanks!
MOWINELADY 12/23/2012 5:53:00 PM

That is so true. Most people never regret what they did they only regret things they never did. So as long as you start and finish you are ahead of a lot of people that want to but never do.
HYATTI1 12/23/2012 10:18:00 AM

This came around a few days ago...but what the heck I might as well respond again since I am here now. I agree whole hearted with what you say. So many start something and never complete it, having so much time wasted for nothing. Anything you do...you should always complete to the best of your ability. What better words can you say than (I DID IT).

    I agree. When I do my first 5 or 10K, it'll be a walk/run.
SHOYER 9/14/2012 9:01:00 AM

I agree with pynetree: the first thing to do is start. I never worried about completion because not finishing was not an option with me. However, I have not done any competition, other than with myself, so I can't speak to that aspect.
GINGERVISTA 9/14/2012 8:27:00 AM
