When I was starting to take my health seriously, I wasn't really prepared to really monitor my portions and SEE just how much I was eating. So, I made sure that I had in the house an electronic food scale, measuring cups and measuring spoons. It was eye opening to see what portioned amounts really looked like vs. the mighty men plate sizes of food I had been eating. These simple & inexpensive gadgets can make the difference between success or failure.

I have a notebook in Evernote with a separate note for each restaurant I visit and what the best options are for my diet plan in each. I don't write down the "best options" that I wouldn't like either - just what I'd actually order. With my smart phone, I have that custom reference to keep me on track.
Having a plan is half the battle, having it HANDY is the other half.
