Hula hooping is an easy and fun way to exercise. I got a $5 one filled with water from Wal Mart and use it while I'm watching tv. Doing it for ten mins. is said to burn 100 calories. How easy is that?!?! They also have 3lb., 7lb., etc.ones, which would help you burn more. Good luck!

  • I bought both a hula hoop and a jump rope a few months back. The rope is waiting for me to buy a better sports bra, LOL.

I was a master of the hoop when I was a kid, but I can't seem to get the 'hula' down now that I am old. I even Googled "how to hula hoop"! I keep picking it up though. One of these days, I will achieve the breakthrough motion that swings the darn thing around - I KNOW I CAN DO IT! - by JUMPUP
  • Used to be good at this but now my waist is in the way! But not for long!! emoticon - by BLONDIE218145

  • Just make sure not to get a hula hoop for children. You need a weighted hoop or it is impossible to keep it up. They also make them smaller so you can do your arms. It really is a good workout. - by FIFTYTOFAB
  • Sounds like fun! - by ROBB1N
  • I've tried hula hooping many times. I just can't do it - by CECELW
  • I used a hula hoop similarly with a month long streak.

  • Sounds like fun. Wondering if I could do it...do the hoops come in sizes? emoticon - by PYNETREE
  • That is good advice. Anything to help me with the boredom aspect of exercise!!! As a child it was just fun to do, we didn't consider it exercise!! ha ha - by YMARIER
  • I like this because it's lower impact than jump roping. It's a lot easier on the knees AND I feel like I'm working my core muscles that get less work than they should! - by IOWASPEECHIE
  • What a great idea! I did something kind of similar. I bought a jump rope. It's not as easy to do as when I was 7, but I will keep at it. I actually got the idea from reading The Spark. It is something that Chris Downie did, and inspired me to try it. I am going to try the hula hoop too, thanks to you! emoticon - by DIONALLEN32266
