5 Minutes At A Time

This Sparked Me!

When I'm running, I usually go for a goal of 30 minutes. But if I think about 30 minutes, I get intimidated. So I just take it 5 minutes at a time. After 2 1/2 minutes, you're halfway done. Then with the last minute, I think, I've come this far, why stop now? Then I feel motivated to keep going.

i find this works in other areas of my life too. if i dont want to do a task, and i just cannot get started, i set my microwave timer for 5, 10, or 15 minutes, and by then i am on a roll.

I have started doing this when I am on the treadmill. I started with 10 minutes then add 10 minutes when I have 1 to go. I did 70 minutes last time. emoticon
