When I'm running, I usually go for a goal of 30 minutes. But if I think about 30 minutes, I get intimidated. So I just take it 5 minutes at a time. After 2 1/2 minutes, you're halfway done. Then with the last minute, I think, I've come this far, why stop now? Then I feel motivated to keep going.

i find this works in other areas of my life too. if i dont want to do a task, and i just cannot get started, i set my microwave timer for 5, 10, or 15 minutes, and by then i am on a roll.

I have started doing this when I am on the treadmill. I started with 10 minutes then add 10 minutes when I have 1 to go. I did 70 minutes last time.

One Drawer At a Time
Set aside one drawer at a time, few minutes at a time till it is clean & organized.
For many reasons -- including knees that need coddling to lack of time -- I usually exercise in increments of 15 to 20 minutes at a time, 3 or 4 times a day. I may not have 30 minutes or more at a time to exercise, but I can always find 15 minutes, and those few minutes are less intimidating, and thus more likely to happen, than a big chunk of minutes. It's also beneficial to my knees because they get a break, which means there is less pain and I'm more likely to do another 15 minutes later on.
