If you have been ill for over 2 weeks or more. Start back slowly to exercise. If you do too much, too fast, you can or could relapse and be worse off. Take it easy for the first week and then slowly get back to where you were b/4 you got sick.

This is good advise. It is also good advise for minor or major surgery. Being on a narcotic (anesthesia) takes a lot out of you. Your body needs time to recover, especially if you have had invasive surgery. But it's not a good idea to lay in bed for long periods either (unless directed by your surgeon.)
I had minor surgery a few weeks ago. I had to be on a liquid diet for one day before the surgery, so I decided I didn't have enough fuel to exercise that day. Two days after the surgery, I walked slowly about 5 minutes, then walked a few minutes more each day, stepping up the pace. Finally I got back on the elliptical trainer but did only half my normal time at half the resistance. Now I'm back to my usual routine. Each day I thought I could do more than I did, but from past experience, I knew it wouldn't be in my best interest to overdo it.

I learned this the hard way! I became ill and needed surgery. It took a few weeks to recover from that and then I jumped right back into my exercise routine. I'm hurting so bad that I can hardly get out of bed. Patience is definitly a good thing.

Good advice. If you try to get back into it too fast you may sent yourself back a little.
