I am an emotional eater. I'm discovering that when I have an immediate urge to eat junk food or sweets..not out of hunger but emotional driven desire to stuff my emotions down...if I take a moment and ask myself why....and ask myself what is bothering me...then I think about my goals...the want to grab junk food is gone in a few minutes....I can think myself out of an eating binge. Sometimes I have to think my way out two or three times a day but each time it gets easier to not cross that line.
Honestly, what we're all doing is not just about weight loss. It's about exercising, eating healthier, getting those 8 glasses of water in...so what I do is I write down the positive things I did that week (didn't use butter to cook, worked out three times etc) before I weigh myself. If the scale doesn't go down, I still know I really pushed myself to make those other important changes. In the long run they will lead to a much happy and healthier life.
I find that I sometimes get too wrapped up in how much weight I need to lose, and end up getting down about myself. I find that I do better with not only weight loss, but also with self confidence and overall happiness, if I remind myself everyday of something I love about myself. 345
At the same time, I remind myself of the person I would like to become, and how to lovingly become that person. We don't do any good by beating ourselves up for our mistakes. If you slip up with weight loss, or with anything in life, cut yourself a break! Remind yourself of how fabulous you are!
