I have found that a lot of the foods on Sparkpeople are measured in gramms a lot of us will just tick the box and there it is on my nutrion tracker I think it is very handy to weigh out food if your not to certain how big a portion 60g is for instance you then get a feel for the portions and stick to it !!

I measure or weigh my portions of grapes, raisins, almonds, etc. according to the serving size on the package & put them into my hand to teach myself what a true serving looks & feels like. This way if I snack/graze, I have an idea of how many calories and servings I'm consuming of a certain food.
I have a food scale that I use, and I keep my measuring cups and spoons handy.
I have a notebook in Evernote with a separate note for each restaurant I visit and what the best options are for my diet plan in each. I don't write down the "best options" that I wouldn't like either - just what I'd actually order. With my smart phone, I have that custom reference to keep me on track.
Having a plan is half the battle, having it HANDY is the other half.
