1 cup or more baking soda Water A squirt or two of liquid detergent Sprinkle water generously over the bottom of the oven, then cover the grime with enough baking soda that the surface is totally white. Sprinkle more water over the top. Let the mixture set overnight. You can easily wipe up the grease the next morning because the grime will have loosened. (see next page)
When you have cleaned up the worst of the mess, dab a bit of liquid detergent or soap on a sponge, and wash the remaining residue from the oven. If this recipe doesnít work for you it is probably because you didnít use enough baking soda and/or water.

Easy way to clean your oven- friendly to the environment too!
Don't want to spend a lot of time on oven cleaning? Place about 1 cup of cloudy ammonia in a aluminum pie pan and place it in the oven overnight. In the morning, simply remove the pan and wipe the oven clean with a damp sponge. If you do this often ( about once a month ) you won't have to spend money on harmful chemicals.
Put your grill racks (or oven racks) in a plastic garbage bag and spray with oven cleaner. (Do this outdoors to avoid fumes, and be sure to wear gloves.) Then wrap the bag around the racks, seal with a twist tie and leave it sit overnight. In the morning the gunk will sponge right off.
You know when you go to clean your oven, especially the self clean oven, and you go to put your racks back in, and they are a little laggy and stiff??? Well, if you put a little olive oil on paper towel, and rub each end with the oil, slide them back in the oven. They glide right back in! Voila!!
