I do several things to keep on moving throughout the day - I always walk to a co-workers desk to talk to them, about every 30-60 minutes I make sure I get up and move by taking a walk around the office floor then going up the stairs to the next floor-walking to the other side-take the stairs down and back to my desk, at lunch I always fit in walking outside regardless of the weather for a minimum of 20 minutes, and I power walk to the train station which is about .87 miles from my office.
This winter has been particularly cold, but I still want to get in my "power walks" - walking at 3.0 - 3.4 miles per hour (128-130 beats per minute) - so I have identified an open walking area "track" that is about about 40 feet long, from my living room to my den. So I pop in the iPod with my favorite walking music and walk for 20-30 minutes at a time. I can even do this while the rest of the house is still sleeping in the early morning.
