My mom worked for a gastroenterologist who told people not to drink with meals. I think this helps people chew their food better rather than gulping it down with some liquid. I don't know of any reason you can drink right after you eat, however.

My dietician just told me that when you drink as you eat then you wash the food down faster than it should. The body does not process all the nutrients from the washed down food and it makes us hungry quicker than we should be. Seems to me that we got full off the drinking instead of the food as the food is washed away. It is hard to adapt to this after doing it for all one's life.
