It isn't the problem of what it does to you immediately, it is what happens to your body if you repeatedly abuse it. Sure you can get the high down with medication or insulin, but every time it spikes, you do a teeny bit of damage to your organs and over time it can cause you to have kidney failure, heart disease, heart attack, stroke, lose a foot or leg to amputation, and on and on. I know because I was married to a diabetic for 22 yrs and he lost his eyesight, had several strokes, a couple of heart attacks, kidney failure (we did home peritoneal dialysis), a kidney transplant that failed after 4 mo, and lost his right leg below the knee due to infection in a foot-he died at just 41. Now he mostly followed his diet, but he cheated and it ate away at his body over 25 years so please for your sake, try to keep your blood sugar in line and don't binge.

I have Diabetes, Type II. I take Metformin XR. I love sugar binges every once in awhile. Immediate effects will be high blood sugar. I have had a stroke when I was 42 years old. I turned 51 a few weeks ago.

yes, there will be long term effects on your intern organs and neuropathy may occur.
When I get that I gotta have the sugar rush, I chew a fruity sugar free gum, or have a sugar free hard candy

I have been on a MAJOR sugar binge for the past month - shoveling in those candy bars. It is sooo hard to stop. If I don't have any, I don't crave it. But, once I have some I must have more - I'm insatiable.

I'm challenged because my husband loves his deserts and he brings it into the house, "Oh, babes, just this once" continually. (This is my excuse these days - it's his fault!)
