Secrets of Success

I Was The Person Who Swore She'D Never Buy A Kindle

For the past two years, I told friends that there was no way I'd give up a "real" book for an electonic reader. Then the price of the Kindle fell and it arrived last week. I loaded 200 free books and will have to start a 12-step program "Kindles Anon" in order to tear myself away from reading. Honestly? I love it. Where else could I store 200-plus books or carry them around with me? And BTW, I still read "real" books. No need to give them up.

I now read all my Kindle books on my iPad, plus all the other fabulous apps including interactive magazines. And you can download from other vendors. If I could have my iPad surgically attached to my hand I would do it.I totally love my iPad. emoticon - by BIGHAIRGAL
  • I LOVE my nook. My husband got it for us to share but he has to sneak it from me :) I still read real books all the time too. I like to read in the tub and taking the nook in the tub is a big no no. - by STACYE13
  • I find my nook is the same thing. I got it because I broke my arm. What I am really happy to hear is how people can exercise with the ebook Wow, maybe I will start this when I can't walk and talk with my walking buddy. emoticon emoticon emoticon - by IOWADEB

  • I got my Kindle bdecause I like to read to distract myself on the treadmill, and holding a book open with one hand, turning pages, and staying on the treadmill takes coordination. Got the Kindle for the gym - said I'd read my "real" books everywhere else. Pretty soon, I was taking the Kindle to work, taking it with me when I'm out eating, reading in bed (I can make the font bigger so I don't need my glasses) - even while walking the pups! Still read the real books, too. - by DESERTDREAMERS

  • I was exactly the same way. That is, until I fell into a writing crowd who wrote for ebook-focused publishers. To read the books written by my new friends, I needed a device (no computer reading, too bright). I still buy physical books, but I love having a variety of reading material weigh so little! - by FICTIONRUNNER
  • I've had my Kindle since Christmas and I love it! - by STARPLANET2000

I also said I would never use a Kindle. I got a new netbook that had the free program already loaded. I love reading books on it now because the screen is so much easier for me to see in lower light than a real book. And Kindle aps are free from as are hundreds of books. - by SBATES63
I own a NOOK and LOVE mine as well. I still prefer the hand-held book but would NEVER give up my NOOK!!!

  • I'm debating whether or not to buy one before our trip to Hawaii. I can read books on my Ipod, but it's a bit small. And someday I'd love to get an Ipad, but it's not in the immediate future & the trips in about 6 weeks!

    Decisions, decisions.

I love real books, but they sure take a lot of space in the suitcase -- especially library books! - by JLITT62
