My biggest struggle in cutting down my overall calorie intake was overcoming a nightly struggle with candy cravings. Now I substitute a bowl of frozen cherries for the pack of Twizzlers or box of Mike n Ike's. A put about a cupful of the frozen cherries in the micro for 15-20 seconds. They end up partially thawed and slushy, and it really satisfies that sugar craving.289
When craving a snack, I rely on those little bite size pieces of chocolate or something small. I even eat what I consider to be low fat. But I am finding I need to truly read the labels on things. I discovered 10 twizzlers has over 400 calories & more sugar than soda. 3 miniature pb cups has more sugar than a glazed donut. I know now I really need to read labels when giving in to cravings. They may appear innocent, but overtime they can be deadly. Low fat doesn't mean low calorie or low sugar!
