At this point, I am several pounds below my maintenance goal. I keep losing weight. Because of some surgery, I had to cut back on fitness. I thought that might solve the problem. I'm eating, and some of the food that I had been leaving out. To be healthy, I want to continue some fitness. Has this happened to anyone else? What do you do if you lose too much weight. My last physical in August was very good. Kay

As long as you're not severely underweight, I wouldn't worry too much quite yet. Our bodies can be fairly quirky when it comes to weight - Just think of all of the times in your journey that you ate well and exercised diligently, but the weight wouldn't drop off, and then suddenly one day it did. Since you're now taking it easy on exercise b/c of your surgery and adding back in some higher calorie foods, the weight may just "show up" on the scale tomorrow. I was in a similar situation as you - trying to put weight on - and that's what happened to me, anyway. One day, all those bowls of ice cream finally showed up on the scale!

Yes! I am experiencing this, too. I have hiked up the calories, tough I still am low carb -- or rather still don't eat many, if any, simple carbs -- I concentrate on the complex carbs.
I FEEL good, and my last physical was great, too, so I'm not too worried, just making sure I get the calorie needs met.

I would call my doctor and ask what is my range of weight. There is not an exact number for anyone. Most people just pick the weight they were when they felt healthiest or chose the weight pretty much in the middle of their range. You may still fall within your range but just be at the lower end. Plus honestly it is the maintenance that is the hardest so being a few pounds under may not make a difference at this point. I would make the call you did say you had surgery. Maybe this is something the Doctor needs to know. I wish you luck! BTW on the weight loss. Enjoy it!

Q: How do I find the motivation to lose weight? A: Step 1: Stop asking silly questions.
This morning on SP, I checked a chart on the web charting the appropriate weight for my size. I'm below that, and I keep losing. Today, I ate more, but still didn't get to the middle of my range. I've cut my fitness some, but don't want to give it up. What is the answer?
After tracking my "maintenance weight" each day (net calories divided by "11") I ask myself this question, "If my net calories were like this everyday, I would eventually weigh xxx lbs." As long as I see that my "maintenance weight" is less than what the scale shows, I know I am either maintaining or losing weight.
