Please donate to your local library. Many are in financial trouble. Estimate what it would cost you for all the magazines, books, DVD rentals, etc. that you sign out in one year. If everyone donated even a small fraction of that, the libraries might be able to stay afloat.
As memorial gifts, instead of sending flowers that are going to die within days, donate to the library to buy a book on a subject that interested the deceased.....(Click on the title for more info.)
Don't forget to fill out the paperwork if your employer matches charitable gifts.
If you can't donate money, donate used books & magazines which the library can sell. Or ask the librarian what supplies would be helpful, everything from printer paper to paper clips. You can also donate your time.

Instead of buying books or paying rental fees for DVD's, check out your local library! If you haven't been to a library in a while, you'll be surprised by how much they offer now!! Library financial support is dependent at least in part on circulation levels, so the more you borrow from your library, the better your library can serve you in the future!
My library offers fantastic online services -- check to see if yours does, too!
One of the best ways to save money is to make use of your local public library. Our library not only has books and magazines, but classic and current movies on DVD or VHS. Library cards are free when you present a driver's license or other form of ID. The library is certainly a great resource for saving money. Blessings, Meg
Theater: $7-8 • Rental $3-4 • Library FREE! At your local library, you can get a wide variety of even newly released DVDs to check out. If you can't find a specific one, go to you library's website where you can request it from other libraries. It's just like Netflix without the cost.
This is also the perfect way to preview or try out fitness DVDs before you fork out the cash. No longer will you spend $20 on a workout DVD only to discover its too hard/easy for you.
